Innovative material development
With the functional polymers we have developed, product properties can be specifically adjusted with minimal use of materials. Bonding catalyst complexes to polymers, for example, can extend the service life of catalysts or enable the realization of novel surface-active systems.
Highly volatile substances can be safely handled when chemically bound to polymers. This allows polymer-bound substances in preparations to develop their effect without endangering humans or the environment. This technology makes it possible to achieve the objectives of REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) without the need for complex approval procedures.
Focus
Mecadi focuses on the development and production of polyvinyl alcohol derivatives and derived products. Mecadi gives customers access to existing substance libraries. These contain derivatives with different functionality, degree of functionalization and molecular weight.
Mecadi manufactures kg quantities of the derivatives to customer order. Technical quantities can be produced by manufacturing partners. Mecadi also supports customers in application development, such as coating trials with the polymers.
In cooperation with the Karlsruhe Research Center, access to new polymer substances with unique properties has been opened up.
