PVF geh\u00f6rt als thermoplastischer Kunststoff zur Klasse der Fluor-Kunststoffe. Seine Molek\u00fcle werden in einer Polymerisationsreaktion zu hochmolekularen Ketten aneinandergelagert (Polymerisat). Umgangssprachlich wird dieser Kunststoff auch mit dem Handelsnamen Tedlar der Firma DuPont bezeichnet. Der Fluoranteil bewirkt, durch eine Erh\u00f6hung der chemischen Bindungsst\u00e4rke, eine verbesserte Eigenfestigkeit.
