The most useful properties of the fluoroploymeres are due to the fluorineatoms, which can be found in the polymerchain. Fluorine is the most electronegative and the most reactive nonmetal within the periodic table. The only element which has a smaller atomic radius than fluorine is the hydrogen atom. The reaction between fluorine and carbon leads to a very short and strong bond which is mainly responsible for the extraordinary properties of the fluoropolymers. The mainproperties of fluoropolymers are:- chemical inert
- non-toxic
- not wettable
- low friction coefficient
- difficult to flammable
- low dielectric constant
- high temperature resistivity
